Welcome to the website of Durham Local Optical Committee (LOC). The LOC is the official organisation which represents optometrists and opticians in our area.

The purpose of this website is to provide eye care practitioners, other health care professionals and the public with information about all aspects of eye care provision available within Durham County.

Purpose of the LOC

• Liaising with NHS commissioners and other organisations as services are transformed

• Developing the role of the optical sector in the community

• Collating general optical correspondence on mandatory procedures, best practice and benchmarking

• Disseminating information to the profession

• Developing integrated pathways and engaging with neighbouring LOCs to help lead on future plans
