Cataract Referral

Any patient with cataract requiring surgery no longer needs a further appointment for dilation. There should be discussion of the risks and benefits and the patient should be given a choice of hospitals and a copy of the self assessment questionnaire.  If they wish to proceed with surgery they should complete the questionnaire and return it to the Optometrist.  Optomanager software is used to forward the referral and questionnaire to the chosen hospital.

Current choices are:

  • Tameside General Hospital (Ashton Under Lyne)
  • Stepping Hill Hospital (Stockport)
  • Withington Hospital (South Manchester)
  • SpaMedica Eye Hospital (Central Manchester)
  • Rochdale Infirmary
  • Optegra Manchester Eye Hospital (Didsbury, South Manchester)
