Speaker: Mr. Maged Nessim

Many ophthalmic emergencies present at first to optometrists, Mr Nessim will look at different red eye conditions which require urgent/immediate referral to A&E. He will discuss cases which present routinely to optometrists which is non painful but require urgent referral.

 

 

Mr Nessim is Clinical Governance Lead at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre.

Abstract: Many ophthalmic emergencies present at first to optometrists, we will look at different red eye conditions which equire urgent/immediate referral to A&E.

 

 

I will discuss cases which present routinely to optometrists which is non painful but require urgent referral. Cases will be Retinal tears/detachment, HZO, Corneal ulcers, endophthalmitis post various operations, iritis, scleritis, acute IOP related problems...etc. Outcome To look for the warning signs Recognise emergency cases refer appropriately.
